The Varsity Lady Hawk team ended their Sea View League regular season in exciting fashion in a come from behind 16-15 win over Trabuco Hills on Senior Night Thursday at Hawk Stadium.

Both teams came out aggressively from the first draw, with the Hawks taking a quick lead over the Mustangs, only to have the Mustangs battle back to take a 10-9 advantage into half time.

Defense played more of a role in the second half with the Hawks limiting the Mustangs to only 5 more goals as they scratched back one goal at a time to eventually catch and pass Trabuco Hills for a two goal advantage and lead they wouldn't relinquish. Senior goalie and Co-Captain Alicia Armenta played tough in the nets saving 20 on 35 shots on goal despite taking a point blank shot to the head in the final minutes, a performance that led one impressed Mustang parent to remark after the game that "your goalie played like a rock star tonight."

Seniors also fittingly led the way on offense with Kiera Bochinno scoring 5 goals with 1 assist and Co-Captain Paulina Rhoades adding 2 goals along with 4 assists. Rising Hawk future stars also contributed to the great overall team effort, with sophomore Vanessa Martinez adding 4 goals, junior Caroline Stratton 2 more, and sophomores Leti Walden-Martinez, Brittney Mackey and Maddie Cole each contributing one goal and one assist each.

Senior Jazmine Alemania was honored along with her other 3 senior Lady Hawk teammates in a pre-game ceremony that paid tribute to graduating players from both teams.

The Lady Hawk Varsity finished with an 6-8 overall record, going 3-5 in tough Sea View League competiton that saw three teams consistently ranked in the Top 10 in the OC Varsity Coaches Poll. The Lady Hawks now await the results of Saturday's Playoff Seeding Committee meeting to see if they qualified as one of the top 16 teams invited to participate in the Southern Section Playoffs that start on Tuesday, May 1.

With Tuesday's win over 11th ranked THHS, the Lady Hawks moved up two places to 14th in the most recent LAX Power CA South computer rankings from Wed Apr 25
