Lady Hawks Fall to Beckman in Playoffs

The Varsity Lady Hawks put up a tough fight in a spirited battle before falling to a strong Beckman Patriots team 18-10 in the first round of the Southern Section playoffs on Tuesday afternoon at Beckman.

Kierea Bocchino led the Hawks offense with 4 goals and an assist, with Paulina Rhoades and Vanessa Martinez adding 2 goals each. Caroline Stratton and Jennifer Aufill each also added a goal, with Alex Houston providing the other lone assist.

On defense, senior goalie and co-captain Alicia Armenta finished her four year varsity career with 23 saves on 41 shots, while fellow senior Bocchino led the team with 3 ground balls, with co-captain and senior Paulina Rhoades contributing 2 more. Caroline Stratton, and Melody Lam each added 1.

Beckman entered the playoffs ranked third in the US Lacrosse Southern Section Championships Girls South Division, with the Lady Hawks the 14th seed.

The Lady Hawks finished the season with a 7-9 overall record, 3-5 and tied for third place with last year's league champ Trabuco Hills in a very tough Sea View League. Capo Valley and Aliso Niguel tied for first in league.
The Lady Hawks will next defend their championship title at the 2012 Watts Summer Games June 9 and 10 at the Home Depot Center.
