Senior Night a Success for Lady Hawks

Posted Wednesday, April 17, 2013 by Gregg Makepeace
It might have been Senior Night at Hawk Stadium Tuesday but juniors Jen Aufill and Alex Houston led the offense as the Laguna Hills Lady Hawk varsity lacrosse team overwhelmed the visiting San Juan Hills Stallions 16-6. Houston led the team with 4 goals while Aufill added 3 more.
Six seniors were honored in a pre-game ceremony, including four-year varsity starter and co-captain Hanah Mirahmadi, three-year varsity player and co-captain Sarah Makepeace, two-year varsity players Natalie Hart, Jamie Steele and Cat Munoz, and first year varsity player Pauline Hua.
The seniors came on strong with Makepeace scoring two goals, and Mirahmadi, Hart, Steele and Hua a goal each. Sophomores Melody Lam and Katie Brown each added a goal and freshmen Ty Snell and Melanie Traylor also scoring once each.
Senior goalie Cat Munoz led the defense with 8 saves on 16 shots on goal.
The Lady Hawks took a quick lead and never looked back, ending the first half with a 10-3 lead before slowing down the offense in the second half to avoid running up the score.
The Lady Hawks play two away games this week at Dana Hills Thursday evening and Capistrano Valley Saturday morning before playing their final home game of the season Thursday April 25 at Hawk Stadium at 5:30 pm
